I love birth. I believe the miracle of a woman carrying and delivering a child is one of the greatest wonders in all of God's creation. I believe that birth is a natural, non medical event. Just like the heart beats and the lungs breathe, a woman's body was intricately designed with the super ability to give birth. While there may be an occasional problem, when the process of birth is not controlled or interfered with to meet man's schedule, it is rare. In America now, nearly one third of all births are born via cesarean section. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that something is way off in the way maternity care and birth are being viewed and handled. There is not a glitch in God's design and the way He intended for babies to enter the world. All of the medical interventions involved in birth in the US have simply resulted in worse stats and increasing neonatal and maternal mortality. The c-section stats get worse with
every passing year.
After two births that didn't go to my liking- I started searching for answers. My third birth was a beautiful, intervention free, water birth in which I delivered a 10 lb, 11 oz baby boy without a problem. That birth redeemed my trust in the great design of the human body. After that, I decided to become a birth doula. I have had the honor of attending births and helping women rediscover that same trust. I consider it a ministry. Women are rarely supported in birth as they were in times past. Birth is a life changing event and it has been my joy to be able to support and encourage moms during their transition into motherhood.

My last birth, of my fourth son Salem, was a home water-birth. It was a wonderful experience, and undoubtedly as long as our family is able,
any future children will be born in the comfort of our home.
