Over the last bit we have been praying over the file of a little girl. We have been waiting on the final documents we needed dealing with her development and health, so that we could consult with an International Adoption Clinic about her needs. We have decided to proceed with sending a letter of request to the SNA regarding this little girl. The next consejo, or matching meeting, is next Wednesday. We will know by that night if we were approved to adopt this little girl.
We have been on a major time crunch as we waited for the final parts of the file to arrive. We sincerely needed all of that to arrive by yesterday morning if we planned to request this month. We also needed to have the call arrive from the doctor yesterday- and it did. That had been our prayers this weekend. The reason for that is, Peru is having a holiday next week. (Monday and Tuesday) Because of that, any requests had to be in towards the end of this week. There is still a possibility that they could ask for some supporting document that we will not be able to produce before Friday. LOL If that is the case, then we will have to wait to request next month. Any child could possibly be adopted this month, including this one. Again, we trust the Lord's will to come to pass.
It is nothing less than a giant leap of faith to pursue a child who, all that you know of them are a stack of papers and 2 photos. The child we are requesting to adopt has significant developmental delays. She is somewhere around a year delayed in speech and psychomotor development. I do not feel at liberty to share her story with the world- but I believe it is a miracle that she is alive.
We have wrestled with ourselves, and wrestled with God, to be honest, as we have viewed the information of so many children waiting for forever families. Fear and faith are constant internal enemies as the rational mind tries to reason out life and directions- and the Holy Spirit calls the believer to reach beyond what they ever thought possible to surrender to the call of Christ..
The rational mind looks at a stack of paper with some inconsistencies, and facts with holes...and wonders what it will truly find, or what it will really be like, when it travels thousands of miles away to meet, hold and embrace what is only known on a few sheets of 8'x 11'.
The Spirit of the Lord rises up and says, "I already know what awaits you in Peru. I have been preparing you for it for a long time. I am going before you, and will continue to hold you up."
The rational mind reflects on the extremes given by specialists as possible diagnosis,
and then reflects on the lesser of the extremes given- wondering which the child truly holds or if all of these guesses are incorrect.
The Holy Spirit rises up and says, "Stop trying to figure out what you perceive as difficult, what you find comfortable, and what gives you security. Trust Me.
I've led you by the hand, and my leading does not end here. Trust me."
Techinically, this child is a little older than our approval given by SNA. On paper, she is 2, and our youngest son will be three in about 2 1/2 weeks. She is not exactly "one year younger than our youngest child." Our agency is unsure how the SNA will respond to this. There is the possibility that they will offer us a little grace in months- and there is the possibility they will deny that request. We have talked to other Peruvian adoptive families and their experience with SNA- and it seems that there is no consistant answer to this question. The Lord knows what will happen next week.
We trust His sovereignty in our lives. We have submitted ourselves to complete His will for us- it will be done. He is working all things for our good, and HIS glory.

Henry-June (Because we aren't sure which died last month-
Henry or June. Henry-June works for me!) enjoying an apple in the schoolhouse. Henry-June's companion, Henry or June died due to un-known reasons last month. :(
Okay. So it is pretty obvious by the bite marks. Yes, Amaus was sharing his apple with Henry-June. So if we get good at sharing this month, we'll work on hygiene next month!

Our sweet one was 6 when we showed up in Peru, but really around 18 months emotionally. If you saw her today at almost 7 and 10 months home, you would not see the same child. Continue to trust God. He knows. So happy for you and yours!
