There was a lot of scrumptious food!

And a lot of great fellowship!

Nothing like a girls' night! :)

And today...
We went on a penguin hunt! Haha! At least that's what we pretended to do!
Months back I was looking at skim boards online before our beach trip. While looking, I discovered that some people skim board in creeks and rivers for fun, too! Since then, I'd been thinking we should take our kids skim boarding on a creek nearby. There are lots of creeks within 15 minutes of our house. So today was that day! We went skim boarding!
Our sons had been to a creek with their aunt and uncle before, that we'd never been to. So we set out to find that creek!

This creek is located down a short trail. However, we missed a turn somewhere and kept hiking down this nature trail with our skim boards. At the beginning of the trek, we crossed an open field. Apparently it was quite the sight to bystanders; a bunch of shirtless boys in board shorts, barefoot, and carrying beach gear hundreds of miles from the beach. In fact, I know it was, because some tourists who were visiting the park began snapping photos of us as we headed towards the woods with our beach gear. Haha!

This is where we started hunting for penguins. When you can't find the creek, you mind as well hunt for something, right?

We had a blast!

We took some wrong turns, and read every little sign.

Well, actually Amaus read them to us.

This one said, and I quote, "Bless all the people and for God."
Yep. They were really great signs.

Finally we made it to the creek. The kids had a ball splashing around. It was HOT after walking and the water was cool.

A little later we found some other kids swimming and jumping, and our boys joined in on the action.

It was a terrific Saturday.

But as fun as it is to walk, get really sweaty, and play in a creek...it's also a lot of fun to come home, have a warm bath...

And snuggle up to watch some Dora!

Hooray for weekend fun!
