Small Updates

We have been waiting on the psychological evaluation to be written up by the MD. That, along with our other dossier documents, will be sent on to Peru to be translated, and then reviewed by the SNA (The governing authority over adoptions)

We got an email yesterday letting us know that the psychologist was supposed to be finishing that up today. I pray he does, because we are really pushing it on time already with our health physicals and bloodwork already being done over 3 weeks ago. We had no idea it would take the psychologist this long to type up a two page report. We loved the psychologist, by the way. He was awesome, made us feel completely at peace, and was a Christian. Our visits with him were actually fun! Anyway, I am praying that the report is put in the mail THIS afternoon, to our agency. We really, really, need that to happen!

I also got an email yesterday letting me know that it now may be required by the SNA for families seeking Peruvian adoption approval to also have a brief letter written by a psychiatrist stating that we are free from all psychopathology. We are trying to come to a decision about how to go about this. If we could find a psychiatrist who was willing to review the evaluation we've already had done, (WHICH ALREADY SAYS THAT) and write a letter based on that, that would be BEAUTIFUL. There is no psychiatrist who works with the psychologist we already have used though. We could try to submit everything without this one  document, since it has not been officially requested as a required document for Peruvian adoption yet- OR we could go through a whole new evaluation by a psychiatrist. The last of these options nearly makes me want to cry. But we will do what we must- of course. We have already decided to send everything else on to Peru so that the translation process can begin because time is getting away. Once we come to a decision regarding the letter from a psychiatrist we will then send it on to meet our other documents.

We are praying for God to show us how to go about the psychiatrist letter. We are also praying for the Holy Spirit to direct us as we will begin viewing the waiting child list in a matter of a couple of weeks. We ended up deciding against sending a letter of request for a specific child when we sent our other documents to be translated, because the translating might take up to six weeks. By that point, the child we have requested might not be available anymore. Instead, we have decided to wait until our dossier is being translated, then send that final letter of request for a child to meet the dossier right before it is reviewed by the SNA. (That's if we find a child on the list who we believe we should pursue.) Please pray for us to meet all of the necessary upcoming deadlines, that the child the Lord has for us will be on the list, and for us to have discernment as we view this waiting angels list.
